Challenge B – Substantive Post 2

What I learnt about the design process is that it’s an ongoing process with various steps, such as planning, reflecting, and getting reviews for improvement. The process of designing my last challenge taught me how to bring an idea to reality while making sure it comes out as a meaningful learning resource. In the process, I also familiarized myself with the topics of audience learning goals and accessibility with the help of frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to ensure inclusivity. When it comes to deciding how to present information in a way that learners find engaging and memorable in audio and visual formats, Mayer’s (2019) multimedia learning principles guided me to improve comprehension. In this process, I learnt the core principles of creativity. I learned that it is all about aligning visuals, narration, and interaction with clear instructions and outcomes.

Challenge A

For challenge A, I worked on the interactive learning resource named “the journey through the Brian: Understanding brian anatomy”. My goal for this resource was to create a resource where learners can visualize and understand in a memorable way about the anatomy of the brain and its functions. With the help of labelled diagrams, animations, and signaling to make sure that complex information can be learned easily. The Myer’s principle of modality, coherence, and signaling helped to make sure that information load doesn’t happen within learners. I learnt in this challenge that balance between information, technical aspects and simplicity is very important in order to create learning more memorable.

Challenge B

In challenge B, our group decided to make a video on an educational topic of the benefits of washing hands among elementary school kids. Our whole group is working together to make this topic more engaging and memorable by combining our ideas and skills to design an engaging and child friendly learning experience. With the use of visuals, animations and warm narration voice we made sure that it becomes more engine and memorable. Our main focus for this project is not just relaying our main idea of washing hands stops the spread of sperms but also make it more engaging and enjoyable for elementary school students.
